We need tae keep an premote oor nateral tounge
You want to write your articles with an AI? Does that sound like a good choice? Taking opportunities from Scots speakers and giving it to an environment-destroying technology?
The problem is that we are fighting against an English language news environment that is actively using AI to the detriment of real journalists. oorNews is currently a one person operation – and with AI I have developed and painstakingly trained on my own writing I can accelerate bringing Scots news to people. When oorNews brings in enough profit to grow the team my focus is on bringing audio and visual content from real people as with my current video content. My hope for the future is where Scots is fully catered for in the digital world – I want my videos that I watch for fun to be audio dubbed to Doric, I want to have voice to text and full voice interaction in all forms of Scots with AI because accepting this just in English means Scots gets excluded from an AI future. I cannot wait for more Scots news, articles and content to emerge as a result of oorNews.
I have a natural Doric voice from my Grandfather (John Morrison, New Craig, Daviot) and often think I should be making recordings. We’re losing the tongue
